Andres Acosta, M.D., Ph.D, a Mayo Clinic gastroenterologist, discusses a recent study associating certain traits with obesity. The researchers hope to be able to analyze specific traits associated with high body mass index; traits such as insatiability, fast gastric emptying, stomach size, and psychological factors. By identifying these specific traits, researchers hope to match the most effective treatment for the patient. The research was published in the March issue of Gastroenterology.
